Scripture Reading

Verses of Affirmation

We live in troubling times.

Modern cultural thoughts and liberties have thrown our society into spiraling turmoil. Popular thoughts have seeped into our Christian morals and we have left little room to follow the commission that Christ set our for us to do.

We feel doubt, confusion, and tend to rethink what the Spirit originally convicted us of and twist it to feel good in our generation.  We fall back on cries of self-righteousness if we don’t falter on the side of worry and confusion. Forgetting to search for truth in Scripture and through prayer, we make excuses, twist God’s word and stick thoughts and words into His mouth because we now dare to do so. This goes to fit agendas and the loudest movement at the moment.

When we will learn? Why can’t we take the Word of God for what it is? He spoke, He convicts, and He is the definition of moral, ethical, and literal truth. We becry His name, yet fail to act according to His will. We lose out in the glories of His riches because we are too busy scrambling for the next popular ideology.

When we feel that we don’t side with the popular crowd and that God’s ways are better than any other ways, we sometimes need encouragement. Life is precious and He didn’t create us in vain. He encourages us to thrive for right and to seek truth despite the chaos we have found ourselves in.

Here are some encouraging verses about the precious life that the Lord has given each and every one of us, even if we don’t believe in Him. Opportunity awaits if we seek Him and allow for the Lord’s loving mercies to mold us into the person He created us to be.

Genesis 1:27 NIV

So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

Psalm 8

Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory
in the heavens.

Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 22:10

From birth I was cast on you;
from my mother’s womb you have been my God.

Psalm 127:3-5

Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.

Psalm 139:13-16

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Isaiah 64:8

Yet you, Lord, are our Father.
We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart”

Matthew 6:26

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

  1. Beautiful verses and reminders to stay the course, take God at His Word and to obey Him in spite of the changing culture around us!

  2. Thank you for this great reminder. Indeed, we are in a time when we take up fads and the latest feel good guru instead of relying on the one true God for support. Bless you!

  3. Saving several of these verses for a rainy day. Thank you. Visiting you from LMM link up. laurensparks.net
