A Time For Mourning

Today we mourn.

Sometimes we are joyful and others we are full of doubt and discord. There are days when we celebrate victory and moments of reflection come through our times of solitude.

God calls us to feel. We are to reflect His humanity in joy, sorrow, hope and faith.  He doesn’t give this ability in vain but to recognize our need for Him. Today we need to reflect the sorrow He weeps over mankind’s lack of benevolence towards the meek, the vulnerable, and the helpless.

We mourn for those who pass without thought, who never knew love, and the heartbeat they were in tune with is now lost in eternal separation from earthly experience.

Revelation 21:4 ESV

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away

Maybe it’s better this way. This world truly has nothing for us. It’s dying, and we are becoming a more decrepit society by the moment. A child who is lost to the world because of ill-fate and agenda, is better off with her Heavenly Father than those who waited until the moment of breath ripped her from the only home she had ever known. She had no place to begin with when the law makers take her rights away while others decry discrimination.

What do we do? Write letters, stand on a podium, shout truth through a blow horn and come down on bent knees. Share true love, offer a helping hand, march in unison with those on the right side of life, and keep fighting the good fight.

Ephesians 2:10 ESV

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them

We need to walk and talk like we are created by our Strong Creator God. Share this hope and truth with others and guide them along the way. Be a light. Stand strong.

It’s hard when the wrong thoughts, words, and campaigns actively want to bombard us into the ground. As we fall, grab that cross off the ground and place it on your shoulders and keep moving forward. We need to be active as we side with eternity. Fasten the armor around you and don’t let the negative straw men of hatred keep you down.

Galatians 1:15 ESV

But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace

We are called to more. Excuses can be made all day, but one little ripple can cause a tidal wave in the great big picture of rebirth and redemption. Let us join together to fight for right. Pray, show-up and fight well for the Lord and His people. Life is sacred and its sanctity should be protected.

Lord, forgive us for our complacency. Help us to see that we shouldn’t be counting on others to speak up so we can idly stand by. Give us gumption to stand up tall and in faith for all. Help us to use discernment in speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. You have given us so much and we are letting others dictate how to spend these days. You are the one who gives us this life, help us to do well to live for you and not for man. We shall not be afraid of the darkness that wants to keep us back. We shall overcome according to your will. Thank you, Father God. Amen.

  1. Praying we stand for truth and the defenseless and speak out against injustice in this world.

  2. My heart is broken for the many babies who have been lost to selfishness. You said it when you prayed for our hearts and complacency. My heart grieves for those sweet precious lives lost who may have held the cure for cancer or other diseases or the next best inventions or even lead the next great revival! Thank you for this beautiful post!

  3. Fasten the armor around you and don’t let the negative straw men of hatred keep you down. What great imagery, but His cross is just heavy for me I do better knowing He carried for me.

  4. “Today we need to reflect the sorrow He weeps over mankind’s lack of benevolence towards the meek, the vulnerable, and the helpless.” Amen! Thank you, MaryAnn, for speaking up for those who cannot speak themselves and encouraging us to keep fighting for the right. Blessings to you!

  5. When New York passed their abortion law, my grandson was less than a week from his birth. I cannot fathom how people actually believe that it is acceptable to murder a child who is perfectly capable of living outside the womb. Every life is precious. Thanks for this good word!

  6. I adore this post, Maryanne. We are made for more. Complacency is easy, but when God moves in us, amazing things happen.
