Standing in the corner, trying hard to become one with the wall is how I often feel in multiple settings. Afraid to share life because it takes a lot of work. Some make it look so easy with their perfected hair, trendy clothing, and adept knowledge of timely matters. Their laughter drowns out any doubts… Read More Meant to Share

Hello and welcome! My name is Maryann Lorts and I am a daughter of the One True King. I need to remind myself of this truth every day. I get out of bed and wake to a tired world and see a need to be a light. My calling may be small among many, but by God’s will, I will run the race that He has placed before me and finish well.

God doesn't create in vain but on purpose and for God doesn't create in vain but on purpose and for a purpose.

From my Bible study this morning, I was reading ab From my Bible study this morning, I was reading about Jesus correcting the Pharisees, once again... and it seemed so fitting to read Matthew 15:11 on St Patrick's Day as I prepped my corned beef on a Friday during Lent.
"...What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”
Matthew 15:11 NIV

I was leaning legalistically on following a fast during Lent for a few years. I thought it was a great time to reflect, give up some sort of vice (typically food), and just lean into the season a bit more. It's a good thought, but I also know that I should be thoughtful every day of the year and fast when the Lord calls me to, not legalistically because I thought the season could draw me in.
Do I think it's a good season to refresh my life and my home? Definitely. But all seasons are good to draw near to the cross.

“Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”
Matthew 15:16‭-‬20 NIV

Don't let a false Gospel, a false denomination nor Don't let a false Gospel, a false denomination nor a false religion ever convince you of a need for further sacrifice at any altar... including the one at the front of a church. Jesus was the final sacrifice once and for all....

Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
Hebrews 10:9‭-‬18
