Rejoice in His Goodness

Sometimes I get really frustrated or down-right angry. I want to hide in my room and scream into my pillow. It’s exhausting. I think that we all have moments like this. We want to escape life and cover our heads so that we don’t have to face the world.

Feelings of happiness don’t always follow me around, but I do have joy in the Lord no matter how far I try to bury myself under the covers. Because of this joy, I allow the daylight to penetrate under my pillow so that I can face ordinary life with God by my side.

Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.”

I rejoice in His goodness. This is how I acknowledge His presence. Even when I want to shake my fist at Him because I feel overwhelmed or incapable, I remember where I have placed my trust.

When we look at the eternal we see that all of these mundane and irritating life tasks are so small. Our eternal perspective should help us to see that the Lord’s work stretches far beyond anything that we face.

I often think that we need a brain break, a few moments to step back and breathe. Maybe in that breath we should allow God to ease our frustrations and to adjust our focus to something bigger than ourselves.

We need to ask Him to remind us that we need to have a focus on Him and to not get wrapped up in just getting by and all of the frustrations along the way. We need to ask Him to remind us to lean on Him throughout our day and that we don’t have to tackle it alone.

Philippians 4:5 “Do not be anxious about anything.”
