I am a daughter of the One True King. I need to remind myself of this truth every day. I get out of bed and wake to a tired world and see a need to be a light. My calling may be small among many, but by God’s will, I will run the race that He has placed before me and finish well.
My name is Maryann and I am raising four very active children with my husband of 19 years. I have taken on the responsibility of their education and have been homeschooling for over eleven years. This has afforded me many opportunities to mentor other homeschool and military families, to work with the homeless community, and with miscellaneous ministries over the years.
I have a heart for women’s and children’s ministry. I am currently a leader for an online women’s study. I have worked in children’s ministry on and off over the past decade with planning events, ministering to tweens and teens in a weekly Bible study, leading in the Awana Clubs ministry, and helping where needed at my church. My two teen daughters and I are going on first overseas missions trip to Europe in Spring 2019.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education and American Literature from Old Dominion University. I do continue my education with independent study in education and Biblical studies.
My favorite things to do on my off time is to hike mountains and sit at the beach. If there is a mountain near by, I am at least heading up the foothills. My family is very active and the best place we have found to worship the Lord together is by enjoying His creation and taking advantage of the opportunities He has placed along our path. Our path, right now, contains a lot of mountains and beaches.
I tend to use multiple versions of the Bible in my studies. I believe that the Lord gives us these versions to help people at all seasons of their faith walk. It is important to be familiar with what people are reading and why they chose what they do. I also believe that God may lead you to a different version or wording to speak into what you are going through in life.
You will find me reading from the NIV and Message Parallel Study Bible, the English and Greek Interlinear Bible, the basic ESV, KJV, and NKJV Bibles, and I have recently discovered a wonderful MEV journaling Bible.
Romans 8:1 has been my life verse for many years. As my seasons change, I still fall back on the verse that really saved me from a dark time in my life. It’s an excellent reminder of the grace of God. “Therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Psalm 51:10-12 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit.”
Ezekiel 36:26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
I have been writing for about six years. Devotionals are my favorite things to write and I enjoy sharing testimonies of faith. I have grown to love the community of Christian authors and bloggers and have been encourage to move forward in honoring God’s will for my life. I want to share the love of Christ with others, to encourage people to live out their faith and to share my stories to show people that they don’t walk alone in their faith.
Philippians 4:14 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
