Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2-3 NIV
Troubles come because we are a broken people living in a broken world. When we face hard times, feeling joy seems like a crazy idea or even a dreaded chore. But when the Lord offers us the crown of life, we can have joy through anything.
Strength and endurance follows genuine faith. As we persevere, light will radiate for others to follow and seek out what we have. Joy will then be an intentional reaction to any situation.
faith produces perseverance
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. vs. 12
This is the fullness of eternal life for those who do not recant their faith in trials. God does not test us or our joy. His holiness is above causing people to sin. Dear Lord, may we always have joy hidden so far into our beings that no trial may cause us to stumble. Please help us to always know that Your faithfulness to us helps us to persevere through all things. We win this war because You win eternity. You are the victor and may we do well to be battle ready for You. May our joy carry us through until the battle is complete. In Your Name, Amen.

I was just going through James 1 this morning when I couldn’t get back to sleep. Such rich imagery and truths in it! I memorized it a few years back and it’s been such a blessing to have it in my heart and memory.
I have had to count it joy, and it may not be easy but He helps us all the way.
I love the book of James! And I can testify to the fact that we can be going through terrible trials and still have joy.
Yes, to have His joy through the most heart rendering trials is His grace & brings a much greater joy if we persist in Him!
