Having Joy in the Lord’s Wondrous Love

It’s time to focus.

Maybe there’s a need for a readjustment of our thinking or our attitudes.

We have all faced unmet expectations over the past year. Broken relationships, work place struggles, political strife, lack of recognition in the home, financial downfalls, religious misunderstandings, and all of the little and big things in between have stirred up our human emotions into a frenzy. Forget any gift that was missing under the tree or the birthday that was passed over like it was any other day. Our life expectations verses the reality of experience hurts the heart more than a missing thoughtful greeting or pretty package.

So now what? We always look to a new year and resolutions to help motivate new attitudes, but we do have more than just a once a year motivational tool called a calendar. There is something that renews us each and every day. Why focus on something new that we cannot fully define or often attain when God is the only author of our newness?

Hope. He is the giver of hope. Renewal happens each and every day, and even moment by moment at times. We can have joy in His wondrous gift- a beauty that is never disappointing. The assurance of life and love is better than any fulfilled decision or grand gestured gift.

Psalm 47:1 NIV

Clap your hands, all you nations;
    shout to God with cries of joy.

We can rejoice like no other rejoicing. We can rise up in praise with our brothers and sisters across all nations and times. Our shouts can shake the world so that true revival can fill our hearts.

Don’t write resolutions on your heart, but ingest truth and let it permeate your entire life. Hold on to that every single day, and never put it down as something to be check off.
