Good Morning Smoothies and Jesus: Faithfulness

When you think about faithfulness, many things come to mind…
Faithfulness to:

  • Country
  • Religion
  • Spouse
  • Family
  • Career
  • Community

However, people may speak faithfulness to these things, but act it out a whole different way.  How many people would turn their backs when faced with persecution, isolation, prison or death?   People turn their backs over lust and covetous urges all the time, so turning away over the tougher things is highly likely.

The Fruit of the Spirit is… faithfulness… Galatians 5:22

Instead of making an example of those who are not faithful or an example of those who are a martyr to their faithfulness, let us look at the ultimate example of who is always faithful to us.

Numbers 23: 19 ESV God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

What He has promised:

Eternal life:
Isaiah 49: 25 ESV For thus says the Lord:
“Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken,
and the prey of the tyrant be rescued,
for I will contend with those who contend with you,
and I will save your children

1 John 2: 25 ESV And this is the promise that he made to us—eternal life.

Psalm 103:12, NKJV. “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

NT 1 John 1:9, NKJV. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Holy Spirit:
Galatians 5:22-23, ESV  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Psalms 32:8, ESV  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Children and Marriage:
Psalms 119:3-5, NKJV. “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.”

1 Corinthians 7:3, NKJV. “Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband

Isaiah 26:3, NKJV. “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

Resurrection and Second Coming of Christ:
John 5:28-29, NKJV. “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.”

The End of Suffering and Pain:
Revelation 21:4, NKJV. “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

There are many more promises throughout God’s Word… all fulfilled… all by the blood of Jesus.  Faithful until the end and through the new beginning.  If we only had the faithfulness of God the world would not be a sinful disgrace, our country wouldn’t be sliding down a slope, and our eyes would always be upon our maker…

How do we obtain such faithfulness?  Start small… keep promises.  Don’t make one that you do not intend to keep otherwise you fall into sin.  Faithfulness… a character trait that is hard to attain although easy to speak, yet even harder to maintain.  Yet, the perfect promises of God were kept in perfect faithfulness through our perfect Savior.

Oranges… a nearly perfect natural source of Vitamin C, a faithful source of natural health in a fruit.  One navel orange has about 82.7 milligrams of Vitamin C.

Every winter, shortly after Thanksgiving all the way up through Christmas, I try to pack in the Vitamin C for my children.  Grandparents to see, parties to attend, and Christmas Carols to sing, we don’t want to be sick with a cold and miss the great celebration of our country’s beginning or the hope of Christ’s birth.  I make a great Vitamin C drink, which we experiment with different flavors.  The basic drink usually has lemon, since that is also a great source of this powerful vitamin.  Oranges give us a different flavor and less of a sour tongue.  I will give a recipe that’s almost like an orange milkshake.

Today’s Smoothie is our faithful source of Vitamin C Orange Delight!

One whole orange (I use a medium sized one)
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/2 cup milk
1 packet of sweetener of choice
handful of ice cubes

Faithful in health and taste

But, WAIT!  There’s more!  A bonus health drink that I suggest making every day for the couple of weeks leading up to an airline flight.

Juice of a whole lemon
2 packets of Emergen-C (we like the raspberry flavor)
3 cups of water
Enough ice to bring it up to 4 cups
Sweetener to taste (I would put in 3-4 packets of Truvia or Stevia)
Handful of fresh raspberries
This will make enough for four small servings

God’s Faithfulness should be our own… He NEVER ever let’s go. He is Always Faithful…
