God Goes With Us

The Mighty One, God the Lord,
    speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting

Psalm 50:1 ESV

The God who sends us out, is the God of the whole earth, the whole universe. His majesty and power is over all things. He declares it all.

We represent Him and need to be mindful, in love, that we will encounter people who worship false gods or have different values than we do. But because of who we represent, don’t make our God out to be small.

He is not so high and mighty that He’s detached from humanity. In  humility He walked with us in body, and lives in us in Spirit. The Lord invites us into a partnership with Him. He wants to live in communion with us, His loved ones.

God has bound His heart with us in Jesus Christ. We are part of His forever covenant. We are on the same team as He as we go out to do His work through missions, service, discipleship, and even serving in our own homes.

We are chosen people, despite the size of the calling we receive from the Lord. Gratitude should overflow from our hearts as we represent His kingdom through our lives. May we do well in serving Him.

vs. 2-6

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
    God shines forth.

Our God comes; he does not keep silence;
before him is a devouring fire,
    around him a mighty tempest.
He calls to the heavens above
and to the earth, that he may judge his people:
“Gather to me my faithful ones,
who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!”
The heavens declare his righteousness,
    for God himself is judge!

Our God is not silent no matter how much we strain our ears to hear Him. He speaks as rumbling thunder and washes our face in cloudy whispers. We can hear Him in the raging fire and in our children’s laughter. The whole earth declares His name and we should stand firm in doing so ourselves.

Come, friends, be ready. He is summoning us. Take a leap in your faith and the Spirit will be your advocate along the way.

  6. i love the imagery in the scriptures, because it gives us just a glimpse of who this Almighty God is who loves us and gave Himself for us.
