Getting Past the Weight of the Impossible

Have you ever had a season of so many frustrations that you just walk around feeling so very heavy? Many of you have to carry the burden of something that just isn’t as light as you thought it would be. You know you have strong arms, but the heaviness just won’t lift. You don’t want to face the possibility that these same things may be on your path in the days and weeks ahead.

You have had a great many frustrations in your past that you fought through, holes that you have climbed out of, and there was angst that was beaten down by your own strength. You came out better for using your own might. But sometimes, some of these things have grown to be giants along the way and you have become small and meek. This time it feels impossible to move on.

Matthew 19: 23-26 reminds us of some great truth that may help those of us who feel that they are without hope.

“And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.’ When the disciples heard this, they were astonished, saying, ‘Who then can be saved?’ But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is not possible, but with God all things are possible.'”

This verse offers us hope in what we may feel to be an impossible giant in front of us. We can rely on the Lord more than ever as we stare this truth in the face.  There are so many things that we can trust the Lord to do for us that we can’t do alone.  As we pray, we can  just hand over our trouble and the Lord will provide a way through it. He will give us rest. It may not be in our timing, but it will be in His.

Dear Lord, today we realize that even though we faced so many things in the past and made it through without You, our resiliency was not nurtured. We now know to give all things up to You. We know that we need to let You walk us through. Our help comes from you, Lord. Please take hold of us right now and start working inside before things become too overwhelming. Let there be peace before any storms roll in. Let us be pressed in so that we continue to trust in You. Lord, our gracious Father, keep us close at hand. Never let us lose sight of Your grace. Thank You, Lord. Amen
