Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10 NIV
Are we working harder to please people, or is our focus on God? Are we watching out for others opinions while we try to hide in fear of the unpopular thoughts that we may have? We should endeavor to challenge ourselves to stand bold in the face of people pleasing or popular beliefs.
Our human nature wants to love people and be likeable in return. But because the Lord is more than likability and love for exchange of mutual feelings, our focus should be on Him. We should want to please Him.
We need to seek courage and wisdom to stand in truth no matter how unpopular it is. Paul encourages us by relating to our modern thoughts:
I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. vs. 11-12
The Holy Spirit is still alive and directing our paths. He gives us strength, courage and truth in order to stand in boldness. The Lord will use us in many ways according to His will and purpose. Stand tall.

This was a delight to read today! Thank you for reminding me of the responsibility to choose and we aware of the loyalty that I will represent before my fellowman. May it honor God, by His wisdom, Holy Spirit, and strength.
It is getting more and more difficult to “fit in.” We are going to have to be ready for issues, if we are serious about our relationship with Jesus Christ. God bless you!
In this day of attacking anyone who disagrees with you it’s easy to want to stay quiet, to go unnoticed. That’s my choice anyway, but certainly not what God would want! We have to decide if we hate confrontation or love God more! The answer is clear, just not always easy! Thank you for this encouragement to live and speak the Word! Keep your wisdom coming Maryann!
Thank you Cindy. 🙂 It’s a good lesson for all.
Amen! Yes, I do believe the Holy Spirit directs our paths. For that reason, I try my best not to second-guess or look back, but keep pressing on. It might not look like I’m getting anywhere, but He is not going to let me down!
