Where is the voice that’s calling out in the wilderness?
Does He fight for justice and stop atrocities? Does He shout love and whisper truth? Does He move from His place or only force His voice through the wind into the world? Does He move mountains and tear down walls? Will He move His people and convict us of righteousness? Is He always with us? In His victory, will we rise up with Him or sit back and only be bystanders until things get easy?
While we wait for the fight and hope in all things to be put right, is there a way we can pick up our swords and fight for those without any voices? Can we stand for truth over the evil who tries to steal victory from the holy?
Proverbs 31:9 ESV
Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.
We can speak up, and trust that He will carry us safely over any trouble. He will protect us through the fires and storms. He allows for us to speak freely and with authority in our faith.
We may be timid and lack confidence in our witness, but we do know for certain that as a follower of The Way, you most certainly have the authority to speak up, defend, baptize and disciple brothers and sisters in faith.
1 Peter 3:15-16
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
The Lord fights for us and with us. We do not need to succumb to shame or fear in our calling. There will be no despair, only the will of an overcomer. We are overcomers, even if we are living with a doubtful spirit. We must rely on His truth, His life, and all of His sovereignty.
He called out from the wilderness so long ago. He is still there, calling our names asking us to step up and out in faith for His kingdom. He will create great things in us and through us. We are victorious in Him. We are free.
He is greater than all things. Rely on this truth.
