Advent: A Reading Plan to Prepare Our Hearts at Christmas Time

There is a special time of year that we intentionally focus on our faith and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We devote a month to reading about or sharing our faith in God becoming man to relate in deeper communion with His beloved ones. In this communion, He prepares to later die as a perfect sacrifice for mankind.

We take 25 to 30 days of considered thought and action. As we dive in, being intentional in living out our faith should be the first thought of the juncture we face before the newness of the year to come.

As we think through the season of Advent and pray for it to impact the masses, do we ever reflect on what it would mean to share what the second Advent will be like and how to dispense hope beyond one season? How often do we resolve and fulfill our intentions all days and not just a handful when it comes to the Christ Child?

Let us start with preparing for one season through Scripture reading, journaling, and prayer. May we end well with a goal of pushing into the new year with faith expression on the forefront.

Please join me this season in the following Scripture reading plan and prepare the heart and mind for the worship of out Lord and Savior. Please note, read these Scriptures in context and allow for prayer and guidance from the Spirit to direct your hearts. After reading each piece of Scripture, set a goal on how you will present these truths to your loved ones and how you can be guided to continue to do so in the following seasons.

May the peace and hope of Christmas time spread throughout your entire being so that you may carry these things with you all the days of your life. May you live out God’s Word so that you may be a light for the Lord Jesus Christ.  Dwell on the following words and allow for our sister’s prayer of worship rest upon you and give you confidence.

My soul glorifies the Lord

and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior

-Luke 1:46a-47

  1. What a beautiful post! I admire and respect, how you share God’s Word and raise your children to know Him…. growing memories that have eternal value.

    1. I like our choice for Advent study this year. We are also doing crafts and baking a log with it. I can’t wait!
